There is nothing I like more than having a good giggle. Ashington bingo players win big
One of the biggest phenomenons in bingo land has to be the big national games where players in the same bingo hall are competing against players in other bingo halls across the land. The link-up has been done in many different ways over the years and the fact that more players are playing means that the jackpot prize is much bigger. This creates a bigger level of excitement and also creates a strange emotion in many of the bingo players. After all, you are playing with the same friends you normally play with week in and week out there is also the fact that you are pitted against other bingo players all across the land.
Who do you want to win?
If you can't win the prize is it better to see one of your friends pick it up or would you rather it went to someone else far away that you didn't know? There would be a natural reaction to say that it would be good if your friends won it but many bingo players would be jealous if their playing partners won a major bingo prize ahead of them. It is just human nature but in the Ashington Bingo club, when one lucky player grabbed the big prize, everyone was able to get some of the windfall.
There is a 50/50 split rule
This is due to the rules of the game operated by a popular Bingo Club in that their High 5 bingo jackpot game sees the prize being split 50/50 with the winner and the rest of the people in their club. This greatly reduces any feeling of jealousy that players may have and definitely gives everyone a reason to cheer if one of their local players romps home with a big win. This meant that when lucky winner claimed house, the prize of £250,000 was on its way to Northumberland.
The winner is an 87 year old local lady who picked up £125,000 plus an extra £10,000 for the house prize, whereas the rest of the players in the hall shared the remaining £125,000 between them. This meant that every player involved in the game at the club walked away with a cheque for over £2,000, a decent sum of money it itself. It may pale into insignificance compared to the riches that went to the winner but if you were told before you left the house that you would be returning £2,000 richer, you would definitely be happy with your lot.

My wife and I went to the Royal agricultural show and one of the first exhibits we stopped at was the breeding bulls. We went up to the first pen and there was a sign attached that said, 'THIS BULL MATED 50 TIMES LAST YEAR.'
My wife playfully nudged me in the ribs, smiled and said, 'He mated 50 times last year, that's almost once a week.'
We walked to the second pen which had a sign attached that said, ''THIS BULL MATED 150 TIMES LAST YEAR'.
My wife gave me a healthy jab and said, 'WOW! That's more than twice! A week! You could learn a lot from him.'
We walked to the third pen and it had a sign attached that said in capital letters, 'THIS BULL MATED 365 TIMES LAST YEAR.'
My wife was so excited that her elbow nearly broke my ribs, and said, 'That's once a day. You could REALLY learn something from this one.'
I looked at her and said, 'Go over and ask him if it was with the same old cow.'

I absolutely LOVE bananas and chocolate. So here is a glorious recipe for Banana and Chocolate Marble Cake with choc icing and nuts. I'm craving this with a cup of tea!
Banana and Chocolate Marble Cake recipe
Ingredients
200ml Butter or Margarine
375ml Sugar
4 Eggs
1 Cup well Mashed Banana (2 to 3 depending on the size)
125ml Buttermilk
125ml Milk
5ml Vanilla Essence
600ml Cake Flour
2.5ml Salt
10ml Baking Powder
2.5ml Baking Soda (Bicarbonate of Soda)
60ml Drinking Chocolate Powder
Icing
100g of Chocolate (I used 70% cocoa)
10ml Milk
15ml Butter
Directions
Pre-heat oven to 160°C.
Grease a spring form tube tin.
Cream together the sugar and butter until light.
Add the eggs one and a time.
In a separate bowl mix together the bananas, buttermilk, milk and vanilla essence.
In another bowl sift together the dry ingredients.
Alternating with the banana mixture and the flour mixture add this to the butter and sugar.
Mix well together.
Remove 150ml of the batter from the mixing bowl.
Add the drinking chocolate to small amount of batter, mixing well.
Add half the plain mixture into the tube tin.
Place the chocolate mixture on top of the plain (just place spoonfuls evenly around)
Cover with the remainder of the batter.
Using a fork, twirl the mixture through twice to create a marble effect.
Bake for 60 to 70 minutes.
Leave to cool before icing.
Icing
Melt the chocolate together with the milk over a double boiler.
Add the butter.
You can add more milk or butter to get a pourable consistency.
Pour over the cooled cake.
Decorate with nuts (optional).
