Giggle for the Day: If a turtle doesn't have a shell, is it naked or homeless? LOL!
Valentine's Day is but a distant memory. The hubby came to the party and managed to be romantic and sweet all in one night. The only problem is that he now feels he has been let off the hook for the rest of the year. How wrong he is!
Settle in for a while; let's chat away about what's been happening and what's on offer!

Wacky Bingo News
Online bingo could get even more players.
Online bingo could be set to get even more popular as the number of bingo halls around the country declines.
A new study has found that on average two bingo halls in the UK are closing every month because the amount of people using them is dropping, the Daily Mirror reported. It explained that research by Ernst & Young found that in the past five years the number of clubs operating around the country has declined from 678 to 526, with 25 of these shutting their doors for the last time in the past 12 months alone.
The smoking ban was thought to be a major cause in this decline, as many of the bingo players who used to play the slot machines in the hall between games are now going outside to smoke instead.
Many clubs are now finding that they are at a "tipping point" where they are only seeing 1,000 players attending a week, with the accountancy firm stating that if these numbers drop any lower it could mean they have to shut.
People named Susan who live in Birmingham may be particularly keen to try out playing bingo online, as a recent study from an online bingo room found that the name and the location were the most frequent among its winners.

Valentine's Day may be over but when a Roomie sent in this very amusing joke I knew I just had to share it with you! Thanks Junglejim!
Love Humour
A very shy guy goes into a pub on Valentine's Day night and sees a beautiful woman at the bar. After a long struggle with his shyness, he finally managed to walk over to her and asked her politely, "Um, would you mind if I give you company?"
She made a furious face and yelled at the top of her lungs, "How dare you asked me to sleep with you tonight?"
Everyone in the pub started staring at the man who was completely embarrassed. After a few minutes, the woman walked over to him and apologized - "You see I am a student of psychology and studying how people respond to embarrassing situations. I am sorry but I was just doing my experiment!"
The young man suddenly gave a loud yell, "What do you mean £200?"
ROFL! Send in your Joke for the Week, and if your joke is chosen and published in the weekly newsletter, then you will receive an added £10 bonus in BBz. Laughter IS the best medicine, so let’s have a chuckle together.
Email me your jokes for next week’s newsletter. Thanks for all the jokes we’ve received. Keep ’em coming. |

Scones provide one of the best vehicles for clotted cream. The buttermilk in these scones not only gives them a slight tang - all the better to enjoy the jam and cream on top - but is also what yields such a melting, tender crumb. Until you have made a batch of scones you won't have any idea how easy they are to throw together. Frankly, it shouldn't take longer than 20 minutes to make and bake them, from start to finish.
Buttermilk scones
Preparation time: Less than 30 minutes
Cooking time: 10 to 30 minutes
Makes 18
Ingredients
500g/1lb 2oz plain flour, plus extra for dusting
2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
2 tsp cream of tartar
2 tsp caster sugar
50g/2oz unsalted butter
25g/1oz soft vegetable shortening
300ml/10½fl oz buttermilk
1 free-range egg, beaten, for an egg-wash (optional)
Method
- Preheat the oven to 220C/450/Gas 7. Line a large baking sheet with baking parchment.
- Put the flour into a bowl with the bicarbonate of soda, cream of tartar and sugar.
- Chop the butter and the vegetable shortening into pieces and drop them into the flour.
- Rub the fats into the flour using your fingertips – or just mix any old how – and then pour in the buttermilk, working everything together to form a dough.
- Lightly flour your work surface. Pat the dough down into a round-edged oblong about 4cm/1½in thick, then cut out 6cm/2¼in scones with a fluted cutter.
- Arrange the scones fairly close together on your lined baking sheet, and brush with beaten egg (to give golden tops), if you wish. Cook for 12 minutes, by which time the scones will be dry on the bottom and have a relatively light feel. Remove them to a wire rack to cool, and serve with clotted cream and jam.
Good luck! If you have any recipes that you would like to share with us, then why not drop us an email? If your recipe is published in the newsletter, then you will
receive £10 bonus in BBz. |
