Family plan private funeral for Amy Winehouse
Amy Winehouse's funeral will take place on Tuesday attended by just family and friends, a spokesman for her family has said. A post-mortem examination into her death took place on Monday.
No cause of death has been given, while an inquest was opened and adjourned until 26 October. Results of further toxicology tests could take four weeks.
The 27-year-old singer's body was found on Saturday at her home in Camden, north London. The spokesman would not reveal any details about the location or time of the funeral.
On Monday, her father Mitch Winehouse thanked fans for their tributes, saying: "I can't tell you what this means to us. It really is making this a lot easier." Visiting his daughter's home, he added the loss left him "speechless". The singer's mother and brother also visited the site to see the flowers, cards and photos fans laid in tribute.
A family spokesman had earlier said the funeral would be held as soon as possible, with coroners issuing interim death certificates allowing arrangements to be made. Traditionally, Jewish funerals take place as quickly as possible following a death.
The Brit and Grammy award-winner had struggled with drink and drug addiction for many years and had recently spent time in rehab. But police have declined to say whether her death was drug-related.
The singer, who topped the charts with her album Back to Black, was found dead by a member of her security team. The album re-entered the charts on Sunday almost five years after it was released. The record, produced by Mark Ronson, climbed to number 59.

This was sent in the other day by a naughty Roomie, jillbo. Enjoy!
POOF! - THE LIGHT GOES OFF!
A 72-year-old man goes for a physical. All of his tests come back normal so the doctor says, "Jerry, everything looks great. How are you doing mentally and emotionally? Are you at peace with God?"
Jerry replies, "God and I are tight. He knows I have poor eyesight, so he's fixed it when I get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, poof!, the light goes on. When I'm done, poof!, the light goes off." "Wow, that's incredible," the doctor says.
A little later in the day, after thinking about this, the doctor calls Jerry's wife. He says, "Your husband Jerry is doing fine, but I had to call you because I'm in awe of his relationship with God. Is it true that he gets up during the night and poof! the light goes on in the bathroom, and when he's done, poof! the light goes off?" "OH, NO - GOOD GRIEF!" the wife exclaims, "He's peeing in the fridge again!"
ROFL! Send in your Joke for the Week, and if your joke is chosen and published in the weekly newsletter, you will receive an added $10 bonus in BBz. Laughter IS the best medicine, so let's have a chuckle together.
Email me your jokes for next week's newsletter. Thanks for all the jokes we’ve received. Keep 'em coming. |

Here is a recipe for Ham and Egg Tarts - the perfect Sunday breakfast. Use any cold cuts you like and scramble the eggs if you prefer.
Ham and egg tarts recipe
Serves 4
Ingredients Savoury pastry:
1 1/4 cups (175g) cake flour
1/2 tsp (2.5ml) salt
5 tsp (25ml) sunflower oil
2/5 - 1/2 cup (100-125ml) lukewarm water
For the tart:
4x10cm savoury pastry shells (see above)
Partially baked pastry for decoration
2 large onions
30g butter
225g ham, chopped
6 eggs
1/2 cup (125ml) fresh cream
Salt and pepper to taste
2 Tbsp (30ml) chopped parsley
Directions
Savoury pastry
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Create a well in the centre and add the oil and water. Bring it all together. Knead until the dough is soft and elastic, about 10 minutes.
Roll the dough into a ball, and then flatten it with the heel of your hand to form a disc. Wrap in Clingfilm and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
Roll out the pastry thinly, to about 3mm, on a lightly floured surface, working quickly to prevent the pastry from becoming warm. Cut the pastry into rounds; they should be slightly larger than what is needed to cover the bottom and sides of the 4x10cm diameter pans. Line your pans with these, gently pressing into the corners and sides. Refrigerate for at least 30minutes.
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Remove pastries from the refrigerator and line with a circle of greaseproof paper. Fill with dried beans (save in a jar for repeated use). Bake for 25 minutes or until golden.
For the tart
Preheat oven to 190°C. Arrange the partially baked tart shells on a baking tray
In a medium frying pan, fry the onions in the butter until translucent and soft. Add the ham and fry for a few minutes more.
Beat 2 of the eggs with the cream and season with salt and pepper. Stir into the ham and onion mixture, and then pour this into the tart shells. Scatter parsley over each of the tarts. Carefully break an egg into a cup and gently tip it into one of the tart shells. Do the same with the remaining 3 eggs.
Bake for 20-30 minutes, or until the eggs are set.
Serve warm.
Good luck! If you have any recipes that you would like to share with us, then why not drop us an email? If your recipe is published in the newsletter, then you will receive $10 bonus in BBz. |
