Right, so it is July and I am not sure exactly how that happened. One minute I was trying to get used to writing "2011" on everything, and now I am wondering how long it will be before some sneaky stores start putting up their Christmas decorations. It's also my husband's birthday next month, which is also a sign that the year is speeding by. (It's also a sign that he's getting older, but I prefer not to think about that bit...)

Niantic woman wins $1M at Foxwoods
Jennifer McKenzie, of Niantic, won the $1 million grand prize in Foxwoods Resort Casino's 25th Anniversary Firecracker Bingo tournament on Saturday. Amid a local person taking the top prize, the casino is continuing the celebration with a party for long-time employees today.
Vice President of Bingo Operations Michael Holder presented McKenzie with her winning check. McKenzie, who had to pay a $500 entry fee to get into the Firecracker competition, couldn't be reached for comment Tuesday.
Balloons and confetti fell from the ceiling when McKenzie won. She was playing a game called Progressive Super Jackpot in which a full-card bingo pays $1 million, Foxwoods spokeswoman Julie Kepnes-Letourneau said.
Foxwoods was celebrating its origin as a bingo parlour during the Fourth of July weekend.

I have recently gone back to being a blonde – a process that has taken months and friends now love to torment me with dumb blonde jokes. My revenge? I just laugh. Enjoy!

Heavenly recipe for baby chicken slowly roasted with white wine, rosemary, parsley and thyme. Crispy and delicious – a perfect dish for a Sunday dinner.
Baby chicken roasted in wine and herbs recipe
Ingredients
For 1 large or 2 small chicken
1 onion peeled and roughly chopped (I like to add onion and carrot to my roasting pan to add flavour)
2 carrots peeled and roughly chopped
250ml (1 cup) dry white wine (I used Sauvignon blanc)
125ml (1/2 a cup) chicken stock
125ml (1/2 cup) finely chopped herbs (I used rosemary, parsley and thyme) - but sage and basil are also good
4 cloves of garlic crushed
3 tsp of Dijon mustard
3 - 4 Tbs of olive oil (I like to coat the chicken to ensure a beautiful crispy brown skin)
Salt and pepper
Directions
Pre heat the oven to 200°C
Place the chicken on the chopped onion and carrots in a deep sided roasting pan
Mix all the liquid, mustard and herbs together and pour this sauce over the chickens and into the cavity
Drizzle over the olive oil and season the birds with salt and pepper
Roast uncovered for 1 1/2 hours and until the chickens are cooked (I turned them over half way through so that the underside gets golden brown and crispy too)
Strain the pan juices, onion and carrot and use this delicious jus as your gravy
I like to cut the chicken up into rustic big pieces and then pour over the pan sauce so they wallow in it before serving.
