According to Sudhir Kale, a marketing consultant for the gaming industry in the country, players are being encouraged to fill out more bingo cards with the help of pleasant smells. The expert in promotion said: “Our sense of smell is the only [sense] that circumvents our rational sense of thinking and connects directly to the emotions.” He claimed that, as a result, the “gut feeling” that some bingo players get when they are playing - either online or in a real bingo hall - can be supplemented by the right odours. Mr Kale claimed that “chocolate perfume”, for instance, can encourage gamers, reports the South China Morning Post. While the technique is nothing new - it has been trialled in casinos in the US for some time now, it is interesting that smell is still seen as a viable sense for marketing experts in the world of bingo. Keep 'em coming.     I am having some girlfriends over for tea on Saturday and one friend is on a major diet so I found a great recipe for low fat scones. Let’s hope they come out well! Try this sugar-free recipe for Sultana Scones - perfect with sugar-free strawberry jam. Sultana Scones recipe Serves 12 Per serving: 147 kcals Ingredients 350g self-raising flour, sifted 2 tsp baking powder 10g Canderel 100g low fat spread 75g sultanas 100ml buttermilk or use skimmed milk + extra for glazing Directions Preheat the oven to 190°C. Add the flour, baking powder and Canderel to a bowl and stir so it all combines. Rub the low fat spread into the flour, using your fingertips, until it resembles breadcrumbs then stir in the sultanas and add the buttermilk. Stir to combine using a round ended knife then bring it together with your hands. If it is too dry and crumbly, add a sprinkling of milk. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured board and roll it out to about 1.2 cm thick then cut out rounds using a 6cm cutter and place on a lightly oiled baking sheet. Brush each one with a little milk and put in the oven to bake for about 10-15 minutes until golden and risen. Leave to cool on a wire rack then sandwich together with low fat crème fraiche or low fat cream and low sugar strawberry jam. Good luck!
