Online bingo players spend 624 hours a year playing bingo
65% of Online Bingo players spend at least 12 hours playing bingo every week, a survey by WhichBingo.co.uk has revealed.
These stats suggest over the course of a whole year the average online bingo fan will spend over 26 days playing the game they love! Many of the players surveyed stated that their friends were just as important to keeping them on the site, as the bingo
site itself.
Last month we revealed how bingo had taken over from poker as the UK’s most popular gambling activity. This new revelation regarding the playing habits of bingo players suggests that the game could now even compete with Television for the amount of leisure time spent on the activity. The average Brit currently consumes 17 hours and 15 minutes of TV every week.
Free bingo is thought to be increasing the amount of time players spend playing bingo, due to the fact you don’t need to deposit any cash to enjoy the games. Many of these games now feature real cash prizes, meaning players are being given the chance to win real money without any cost.

This chunky and crunchy rocky road chocolate sponge cake, is packed full of my favourite things like nuts, biscuits, Snickers bars and Maltesers. I like to double up the cake mixture to get a thicker sponge. If you’re doing this, you’ll also need to double the cream and marshmallows for the filling. WARNING: Systems overload but in the best way possible!
Rocky Road Cake
Serves: 6
Prep time: 45 minutes (not including refrigerating time)
Cooking time: 15 minutes (may need an extra 5 minutes)
Total time: 1 hr
Ingredients
For the chocolate sponge cake
100g unsalted butter
100g caster sugar
100g Self Raising flour
3tbsp cocoa powder
2 eggs beaten
For the rocky road topping:
100g butter
2tbsp caster sugar
2tbsp cocoa
2tblsp golden syrup
3 Snickers bars
1 Dairy Milk bar of plenty toffee apple flavour
100g mixed chopped nuts i.e. almonds, brazil nuts and hazelnuts
25g each white and dark chocolate chips
100g choc chip biscuits broken into pieces
100g Maltesers
100g marshmallows
You’ll also need:
3 round cake tins (all the same size)
Method:
Preheat oven to 170°C (325°F, gas mark 3). Grease and line the 3 round cake tins with baking paper.
For the rocky road topping: Make a chocolate sauce by melting the Dairy Milk chocolate bar, Snickers, golden syrup, butter, sugar and cocoa together over
gentle heat.
In a separate bowl mix together the marshmallows, biscuits, chopped nuts, chocolate chips, Maltesers and then pour over the chocolate sauce.
Transfer to one of the lined cake tins and level the top with a palette knife. Refrigerate for 2 hours.
Meanwhile make the chocolate sponge cake: Mix all of the cake ingredients together for 2 minutes then divide the mixture between two greased sponge tins and bake for 15 - 20 minutes. If you're doubling the quantity, leave in the oven for an extra
10 minutes.
When cool, spread one sponge cake with whipped cream (saving 2tbsp for the topping) and sandwich the other cake on top.
When the rocky road topping has set, spread the rest of cream over the top of the sponge cake. Peel off the baking paper from the rocky road topping, then place it onto the sponge cake. Keep refrigerated until ready to eat.
