Barbara Windsor to Wear Dress of Bingo Balls
Eastenders star Barbara Windsor will shortly appear on the country's television screens as the new face of bingo.
The 73-year-old actress is to advertise an online bingo company, wearing a dress made from 200 of the game's famous balls, reports the Sun.
Windsor's role will see her portray the Queen of Bingo in the television promotions, in attire that appears more Lady Gaga than Peggy Mitchell.
Indeed, it is the pop princess's dress creator Vin Burnham that is also behind the bingo frock, the newspaper reveals.
Commenting on the dress, the Queen Victoria landlady states: "It's not as outrageous as some of Lady Gaga's outfits but it made me feel a proper queen."
Earlier this summer, Cherry Hosking, company secretary of the Bingo Association, praised the role of online bingo in many people's lives.
She said it had become a popular hobby for many Britons who spend time doing something they enjoy from the comfort of their own home.

So one of the ropes left. The other rope frayed up his hair and tied himself in a knot.

This ham and spinach tart recipe is particularly good and perfect if you're feeding friends and family on a budget. There is nothing nicer than a good tart on a Sunday afternoon, LOL!
Creamy ham and spinach puff tart recipe
Serves 4
Takes 15 minutes to make and 25-30 minutes to cook
Ingredients
375g ready-rolled puff pastry
2 tbsp olive oil
1 red onion, finely sliced
350g bag baby leaf spinach
250g pot crème fraîche
3 large free-range eggs
100g Gruyère, grated
150g (about 6 thick-cut slices) smoked cooked ham, roughly torn
Method:
1. Preheat the oven to 200°C/fan 180°C/gas 6 and put a baking sheet in. Roll the pastry out and line the base and sides of a 30cm x 20cm Swiss roll tin with it. Prick the base all over with a fork and chill.
2. Heat the oil in a frying pan over a low heat and cook the onion for 5 minutes until softened. Transfer to a bowl, and then tip the spinach into the pan and cook, stirring, until wilted. Remove from the pan, squeeze out any excess water and chop. Put in the bowl with the onion to cool.
3. Beat together the crème fraîche, eggs and half the cheese and season.
4. Spread the spinach mixture onto the pastry, then pour over the creamy egg mixture and top with the torn slices of ham and the remaining cheese. Bake for 15-20 minutes until the pastry is puffed and the filling set and golden. Serve with a crisp salad.
